    The Compagnietheater was purchased so that the building could remain the permanent base of the Theatercompagnie. Designed in 1793 by city architect Abraham van der Hart, the building reflects the classical style that was fashionable at that time. The building was used as a church until 1956 and for various other purposes since then.

This listed building, with its rich history, will be closing its doors for a major refurbishment in 2017. After that, the ‘House of Enlightenment’ will be able to welcome the public and businesses again in its full glory.
